Candidates
The best candidates for a face lift are patients whose skin on their face and neck has begun to sag, yet the skin still has some elasticity. Additionally, a patient’s bone structure should be well defined for the best outcomes. Many patients who consider a face lift are in their 40’s to 60’s.
Dr. Quintero aims to provide patients with natural results that fit their goals; enhancing the already beautiful you.
Procedure Steps
A face lift is an out-patient procedure, you will return home that same day.
A face lift involves elevating the skin and tightening the underlying tissues and muscles. Facial skin is repositioned over the newly created contours of the face, excess skin is removed, and the wound is stitched closed. The incisions for the procedure depend on the techniques that will be used and the patient’s preferences.
Safety Preparations & Risk
In order to perform a face lift procedure, a patient must be up to date on their physical exam. We also ask that patients stop certain medications and all nicotine products. Dr. Quintero would like for patients to follow these recommendations for a better healing and recovery process.
The risks of face lift surgery include:
- Hematoma
- Scarring
- Nerve injury
- Hair loss
- Skin loss
Recovery
In the first few days after surgery rest with your head elevated, take pain medication as recommended, and apply cool packs to the face to ease pain and reduce swelling. A face-lift can give your face and neck a more youthful appearance, but they are not permanent. With age, the facial skin may begin to droop again. In general, a face-lift can be expected to last 7 to 12 years, with the proper maintenance of the skin.
